Mobile Internet in Uganda
With the current Internet speeds, it will soon be possible for you to surf the net very cheaply and at your convinience. Now allow me to take you through some of the current packages which our local telecommunication companies are giving us and how to activate them.
So, starting with MTN.
First of all, to activate the internet you need to have a GPRS enabled phone...(this applies to all phones)
The APN for MTN is "yellopix.mtn.co.ug"
Now if you do not have settings u can send “Yellolive” to 188 and wait for a confirmation sms, save the settings and u'll be able to start surfing.
Next, dial *150# and follow instructions.
1 hour = 20MB(not 60 minutes in a day, but 1 hour e.g from 10a.m-11a.m) at 500/=
I day = 100MB at 5000/=
I week = 350MB at 15,000/=
I will look at the Orange options soon. The above is for your mobile, not the MODEM...more to come later.
